Millions of people are affected by Diabetes. Chances are, either you or someone you know has diabetes. Therefore, I want to connect with YOU!
I have grown up in a family of diabetes. I was first diagnosed with Gestational diabetes over 10 years ago, then six months later, Type 1 Diabetes. Living with Diabetes is not easy, but manageable.
Many people, like me, can manage diabetes with insulin and monitoring their food intake. Not all Diabetics are the same.
Here’s my story:
I grew up watching my dad take a needle twice a day. I was quite interested in it as a child, so much so…that I did my grade 4 speech on the topic of Diabetes and WON !!!!. While pregnant with my 2nd child, I was diagnosed with Gestational diabetes. At the time, I was told, that I could develop Type 1 diabetes eventually. Although I was very careful with my diet, I developed Type 1 diabetes within a year after my 2nd child was born, WHAAAAAT!. Adjusting to taking a needle every time I ate, and carb counting was a struggle at first, but I got used to it. After a few short years, I went on the pump. I find the pump so much easier to manage my diabetes. I do my best to be active on a regular basis (doesn’t happen every day) and keep my blood sugars within range (although cookies are my weakness). My A1C is typically between 6.4 and 6.9, my goal is to keep it that way.
Now YOUR turn, give me YOUR story!
It will be nice to connect and hear from YOU.
