Benefits of Swimming
What is the most effective Exercise that most anyone can do? Try Swimming! There are so many benefits linked to swimming that you may just want to make that splash! Sometimes it’s a bit of effort to get that bathing suit on in the middle of cold weather, but once you’ve taken the plunge, you’ll see a great improvement in your health. You’ll just feel better! If you’re not a great swimmer, that’s ok, please follow the safety rules and precautions of your local pool and most importantly, be safe! Swimming is one of those activities that is very affordable. All you really need is a bathing suit, and perhaps some goggles. Most local pools have a small entry fee, but for the most part are inexpensive and cheaper than a gym membership. Swimming is not only good for your physical health, but also for your emotional health. If you want to reduce stress and lower anxiety, try getting into a pool. Many studies including an article from the US master swimming ( 4 Reasons Why Swimming is Great for Mental Health | U.S. Masters Swimming (usms.org) has shown that swimming not only reduces stress, however, also increases sleep quality. It’s a social environment where you can challenge yourself and work at your own pace. It’s a great way to relax but move to get your heart rate up and provide some resistance training. There are many ways to get a workout in the pool. Although length swimming is a great activity, there is also programs such as water aerobics, amongst others. It’s one of those activities that anyone can participate in. Water is great for people with various health conditions. For those with arthritis or problems with joints and bones, water is a great way to move with the decrease the stress off those places that hurt the most. Swimming is a great exercise for asthmatics as well. The breathing and movement can increase and improve lung capacity. Also, instead of vertical, the body is horizontal, which helps with breathing when doing physical activity. For those who have Diabetes, be sure to monitor sugar levels. Diabetics may need to adjust their insulin accordingly. If you are wearing a monitor, you may want to get some patches. Since Diabetics need to be so careful with their feet, it is recommended to wear deck shoes on the deck to prevent infections. Swimming is a great exercise to decrease high sugar levels. I suggest put on your bathing suit, do some laps, have fun and most importantly, let’s stay healthy together
